I’m going to visualise each element of ThoughtCounter – the space, the display, and the product itself. What’s interesting is that sketches and work from earlier in the course are suddenly relevant again. There’s a body of work that can tie in.

Developing the work: Tunnels, voids and material experiments
While waiting for my CSM technical induction to begin the acrylic fabrication phase, I’ve been meditating with the moiré patterns on a large screen, trying to imagine what it would be like to be fully immersed within the work. Several new directions emerged from this.

Moiré effect tests with film photography backgrounds
Inspired by Boris Mikhailov’s “Yesterday’s Sandwich” at The Photographers’ Gallery, I revisited my photographs shot on my Canon AE-1 film camera. I was looking for organic, natural images with minimal visual complexity, and in some cases, a central focal point to complement the bindu (centre point) of the moiré effect patterns.

I feel like I have a really strong “Why” — to express externally my own inner journey and experiences during meditation. eg. Blocked energies, energy centres opening, absorption states, experiencing the pull of the void etc.
